A typical forklift engine assembly includes the following major components and systems:
Engine Cylinder Block & Cylinder Head: This forms the foundation and includes the engine block ,
crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons and the cylinder head.
Fuel System: Comprises the fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel injection pump and fuel filter to deliver
clean fuel at the right pressure for combustion.
Air Intake System: Includes the air filter and the intake manifold, Many diesel engines also feature
a turbocharger to boost power.
Exhaust System: Guides combustion gases away, consisting of the exhaust manifold and the muffler
to reduce noise.
Lubrication System: Ensures all moving parts are protected from wear. It includes the oil pump, oil filter,
and oil pan/sump.
Cooling System: Prevents engine overheating. Key parts are the water pump, thermostat, and a large
radiator designed to handle heavy loads at low speeds.
Electrical System: Provides the spark and starting power. This includes the starter motor, alternator
(to charge the battery), and for gasoline/LPG engines, the ignition system (coils and spark plugs).
Forklift engine assy are built to be robust and reliable, capable of operating under constant heavy
load, frequent starts and stops, and in demanding environments.
