The Moon Is Waxing, Autumn Turns Mild
HanZhi wishes all of us a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
The autumn wind brings a slight chill, and days grow quiet. The gentlest festival of
autumn is drawing near. Mid-Autumn has not arrived yet, but the moonlight has softened
already. Traces of reunion can be felt quietly in streets and alleys.
I prefer this sense of anticipation before the festival to the bustling celebration on
Mid-Autumn night. It is neither as fiery and hasty as summer, nor as cold and heavy as deep
winter - just faint and slow, calming the heart.
The evening breeze brushes treetops and sweeps away the remaining heat of summer.
A subtle fragrance of osmanthus floats in the air, gentle and soothing.
Looking up at the night sky, the moon grows rounder day by day. From a thin silver crescent,
it gradually swells toward a full orb. It is as if time is quietly building up for a grand moment
of perfection. The waxing moon resembles life itself: every gentle journey leads to an expected
rendezvous.
As Mid-Autumn approaches, our hearts naturally soften. We hurry through busy days,
always chasing deadlines and coping with daily matters. Yet as autumn deepens and the moon
waxes, quiet thoughts well up inside us. We start to miss our families, the warmth of home,
and the long-awaited peace of reunion.
Shops along the street display delicate mooncakes. Various gift boxes sit neatly, releasing
a faint sweet scent into the air. They remind us that autumn is halfway through, and the year
has reached its tender phase. No matter how busy or weary we have been this year,
the Mid-Autumn moonlight will gently embrace all our toil.
Before Mid-Autumn comes, longing arrives first. Some may have planned their trip home,
eager to gather with loved ones. Others stay far away, sending silent thoughts to their families
back home under this growing moon. Distances may separate people, yet moonlight treats
everyone equally, shining on every sincere yearning.
I love these autumn nights with the waxing moon. No noise, no rush. Everything slowly
improves and moves toward completeness. May this coming Mid-Autumn reward our patience
and time. May all our travels end at home, and all our wishes swell like the moon, gradually
and finally reaching fullness.
