whether internal combustion or electric, rely on various specialized oils and fluids to ensure
operational efficiency, longevity, and safety. Using the correct type of oil is critical for performance
and avoiding costly breakdowns.
1. Engine Oil: Lubricates moving engine parts, reduces friction, cleans sludge, and helps cool the engine.
2. Hydraulic Oil: This is the lifeblood of the forklift's hydraulic system. It transmits power to lift, tilt, and
lower the mast and forks. It also lubricates hydraulic components and dissipates heat.
3. Transmission / Drive Train Oil: Lubricates the gears, bearings, and clutches within the gearbox and
drive axle, ensuring smooth power transfer from the engine, motor to the wheels.
4. Gear Oil: Specifically designed for the drive axle differential and the final drive hub reduction gears.
These components endure high sliding friction and require oils with strong EP additives to prevent scoring
and wear.
5. Coolant and Antifreeze (For IC Engines) : Regulates engine temperature, protects against freezing and
boiling, and prevents corrosion of the cooling system components (radiator, water pump).
6. Grease: A semi-solid lubricant used for components that don't have a sealed oil bath. It stays in place to
provide long-lasting protection.
7. Brake Fluid: Transfers force from the brake pedal to the brake calipers or wheel cylinders in hydraulic
brake systems.
