The clutch pressure plate is a critical component of a forklift's manual transmission system.
It works in conjunction with the clutch disc and flywheel to engage and disengage power transmission
from the engine to the drivetrain.
The clutch cover applies a clamping force to hold the clutch disc firmly against the flywheel
when the clutch is engaged, allowing engine power to be transmitted to the wheels.
When the operator depresses the clutch pedal, the clutch cover releases the force, disconnecting
the engine from the transmission for smooth gear shifting or stopping.
Their Main Function:
1. Engaging the clutch – allowing engine power to transmit to the transmission and drive wheels.
2. Disengaging the clutch – When the operator steps on the clutch pedal, the clutch cover
separating the clutch disc from flywheel to interrupt power flow for smooth gear shifting or stopping.
3. Slipping prevention – By maintaining adequate spring-loaded pressure,
it prevents the clutch disc from slipping under load,
4. Heat dissipation – It helps absorb and dissipate heat generated by friction during clutch engagement
and disengagement, protecting related components from thermal damage.
