At a time when a large number of European, American and Japanese brands are withdrawing from
the market and Chinese manufacturing is accelerating its penetration into the Russian market,a newly
released 5-ton diesel forklift by a domestic brand is being regarded as a key indicator by the local industry
- it is both a "filling the gap" solution in the absence of imports and a localized answer to the question of
"what kind of forklifts does the Russian market really need".
Recently, Russian media reported that the SILANT (s И l А nt) brand has officially launched the 5-ton
diesel counterbalanced forklift PD 5.0. The localization rate of this model has reached approximately 80%,
and it is planned to achieve an annual production of over 1,000 units by 2026. These products are mainly
targeted at the domestic market in Russia. It is expected to push the share of domestic brands in the
overall forklift market to approach 10% for the first time.
The PD 5.0 diesel forklift has been shortlisted for the "Best Industrial Design Award in Russia".
Judging from its parameters, the PD 5.0 is a typical 5-ton diesel forklift designed for heavy loads and harsh
working conditions.
- Rated load: 5000 kg, load center: 600 mm;
- The standard lifting height is 3 meters, and the optional mast range is 3 to 6 meters.
- It adopts a four-cylinder diesel engine from Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) of Belarus, with a displacement of
approximately 4.6L and a power of approximately 57kw
- The maximum traveling speed is approximately 26 km/h and the self-weight is about 8 tons.
- A 24-month or 3,000-hour warranty is provided
It is worth noting that this forklift is clearly marked to operate in a low-temperature environment of -40℃
and is suitable for warehouse, industrial enterprise and open-air storage yard operations - this is almost a
direct response to the real working conditions in most parts of Russia.
The PD 5.0 can be optionally equipped with a metal fully enclosed heated cab, which is almost a "must-have
configuration" for Russian users who have long winters and a high proportion of outdoor loading and unloading
time. From the power system to the chassis structure then to the comfort of the cab, SILANT's
design logic is very clear:
First, it ensures that it does not fail in full-shift high-intensity operations outdoors at temperatures below
minus tens of degrees Celsius. On this basis, it then optimizes fuel economy, appearance and digital functions.
Bind the product to the climate, industrial structure and usage habits.
Why did you bet on the 5-ton class right from the start?
This is related not only to the climate but also closely linked to the industrial structure and usage habits.
On the one hand, from the perspective of Russia's existing industrial structure, the demand for 5-ton and
above diesel forklifts in the steel, wood, chemical and large-scale warehousing industries has been stable for
along time. These industries often conduct high-frequency loading and unloading in open areas, railway platforms
and port fronts, and have high requirements for the overall strength of the machine, the rigidity of the mast and
the off-road passing ability.
The 5-ton class happens to be the main gear that is "heavy-duty yet still universally applicable".
On the other hand, Russian assessment shows that in the 5-ton segment, European and Japanese brands have
long occupied nearly half of the domestic market share, leaving a relatively prominent "substitution gap"
The Russian SILANT PD 5.0 selects the set of "coordinates" of "5 tons + -40℃ + friendly for outdoor operations",
which essentially strongly binds the product to the domestic climate conditions, key industries and operating habits:
In this sense, PD 5.0 is not merely a product model, but a collective response from Russian users to the
question"What kind of forklift is the most suitable for us?" It must stand firm in the snow and wind of Russian winters,
account for the total cost of ownership over a long period, and at the same time, through industrial design and digital
configuration, demonstrate to the outside world that "this is our own industrial product".
